Session 1 & 2 Artha - Vellan - 03 May 2010 00:10

Artha should be given out during play. I sucked at that during Deadlands, and clearly I still haven't worked out the best way. I'm working on it, and I maaaaay have a solution.

In the meantime, everyone can have two Fate points (which should now bring you up to three Fate points and one Persona) and I'll try harder next week.

Please Present Your Passport At The Gate - Vellan - 20 Apr 2010 11:24

Last week, the feeling at the table seemed to be that we were happy to pass on the last week of Paranoia in favour of starting Burning Wheel.

So that's what I have prepared.

The character sheets are up, and so is the first draft of the rewards for writing session summaries.

There are still some character creation issues to iron out, but we'll have to work on them as we go along (because frankly, I'm over it).

Actually... - Vellan - 31 Mar 2010 04:38

…it turns out that I am a little bit behind. I'm much more comfortable with that.

I have three gods to go, and then I need to add the notes on the hierarchy. So okay, not finished today. Finished tomorrow. I think that's still pretty reasonable.

Progress - Vellan - 30 Mar 2010 09:37

The stuff about the different countries/cultures is done!

I should be able to finish off the gods tomorrow.

Then type up my notes on the hierarchy.

I may even get everything done on time. I feel like I'm starting to get somewhere. This is terrifying - it is a bad sign.

Look at my Gantt chart. Just look at it. - Vellan - 26 Mar 2010 02:58

My work is about 70% done…and I still have a bit to go.

But I have a plan to get it done on time. Oh yes.

Gantt.jpg

My my best estimate, we have another two weeks of Paranoia. We will also need to spend a week on character creation before we can begin the campaign, which puts the date for the first Burning Wheel session on 21.04.2010.

What I am considering is that instead of taking things logically - you know, in order - we have the character creation session on 07.04.2010, sandwiched between Paranoia on 31.03.2010 and Paranoia again on 14.04.2010.

Advantages:
  • Having 13 days/1 session between character creation and starting the game gives you guys time to
    • read up on the setting bits that relate to your character, and
    • lovingly construct the details of your character's background, or
    • change your mind and start over (if absolutely necessary)
  • The extra week of time also allows me to
    • Change the bits where I contradicted myself but won't realise until someone points it out
    • Create new (or weave into existing) plotlines based on the PCs or NPCs related to the PCs
    • Make sure that everyone is on the same page
Disadvantages:
  • It could feel kind of strange, and would require some mental gear switching

Feel free to put any questions and concerns in the comments below, or email me directly.

A New Home? - Vellan - 27 Jan 2010 22:55

After speaking to Chris last night, I have arranged that next week we will try playing in the storeroom.

There isn't a whole lot of space, but it will be quiet and (if he removes the bulb as requested) dimly-lit.

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

  • The door locks automatically, and can't be unlocked from the inside. This means that we need to play with the door open or BE LOCKED IN. The serious kind of locked in, where we would need to a) phone for help, b) scream and bang on the unyielding door, and if the worst comes to the worst there's always c) the ol' leg rota.
  • The bookcase stays where it is - we will need to move it to gain access.
  • It will be cramped. It isn't a big space, so we will all need to fit around one of the black card tables. It is difficult to be certain without trying it, but I think that sacrificing a little space in return for a better atmosphere is probably a reasonable trade.

If we decide that we like having our own space and want to continue to use it, it presents a number of advantages:

  • It will be dim and quiet, obviously.
  • We have been given permission to redecorate: the area has been pretty heavily graffiti'ed. I *like* graffiti, but I am thinking of replacing it with RPG graffiti. A stencil of a giant, flaming D20, for example. Put your hand up if you have art skillz!
  • We could possibly keep a whiteboard in there, which would be useful for tracking initiative (among other things)
  • It could be worth asking if I can install castors on bookcase, so that we can wheel it back into position so that we can close the 'door' while still having the OMFGDON'TLOCKUSIN door open.

So next week (03.02.2010) we won't be by the arcade cabinet, we'll be behind the bookcase.

Making your life easier - Vellan - 11 Jan 2010 10:15

All the changes should be finished (if you come across something that is missing or doesn't work - let me know).

The thing to keep in mind is to add pages with the side bar (as explained on the forum) and remember to tag your pages appropriately.

Or not. Whatevs.

In progress - Vellan - 10 Jan 2010 11:57

I'm still fixing stuff.

But I did - coincidentally - discover that the template for the session summaries (under the "History" tab…you know, the session summaries that you are going to want to do because you'll get awesome lewt and buffs?) had not been set up properly.

It's hard to get good help these days.

A stack of stuff is still (varying degrees of) broken, but the comments on the session summaries is fixed.

Reconstruction - Vellan - 10 Jan 2010 05:13

Just a warning that I am going to be making some changes to the structure.

The goal is to keep the different pages 'separate' so that you can move through the Saga Edition part of the wiki or the Dyadica part of the wiki without things getting all confused. (The forum will stay as it is.)

I'll be using categories, which will involve a lot of page changes. The categories themselves (which shouldn't get in your way) will be represented by numerical ordering so that I don't have to type "Star-Wars-Saga-Edition:" over and over.

(This may also be displacement activity because I know that I have to upload some myths sooner or later, I just want to edit them one more time.)

The discussion is (or should be) in the Forum - go there!

The pages are just waiting - don't worry about them yet.
